Queen Elizabeth II Dies at 96

Queen Elizabeth II reportedly passed away on Thursday, September 8th, in Balmoral Castle in the United Kingdom.

Early Thursday morning, Elizabeth II’s doctors said her health was in jeopardy. Her close family came to visit her in her home, in the event of her passing.

“RIP the Queen,” says school teacher Adam Jones.

The queen recently had her 96th birthday back in April. She was crowned Queen in 1953 after her father and mother passed away, and her coronation was broadcasted on live television. Millions of people watched, and hers became the first ever broadcasted coronation. Up until her death, she was the longest reigning Queen with a total time of 70 years and 214 days.

“Rest in peace,” says Instagram user rayanjailer.

The Queen’s funeral is set to occur in St. George’s Chapel, on the grounds of Windsor Castle. The entirety of the UK is currently undergoing a brief period of mourning. Currently, as of September 12th, the Queen’s coffin is being kept in Scotland for a 24-hour period. Very soon, however, the casket will be transported back to England.

“Very sad,” says Carolina Barragan-Carrasco.
