The Summer I Turned Pretty

The Summer I Turned Pretty is a masterpiece.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is a novel-based TV show shown on Amazon Prime. The three-part novel series was written by the talented award-winning author, Jenny Han. Many people are familiar with her books and movie sequels of “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before”.

The genre of this series is Romance. The romantic connections between Belly and Jeremiah and Belly and Conrad are to die for. Belly is a 15-year-old Asian American girl who goes to Cousins Beach every summer to see her closest family friends, Susannah, Conrad, and Jeremiah, it is a typical event for them to meet at the same time every year, but the only thing that’s changed is the fact that it was the summer Belly turned pretty.

Belly is stuck in a love triangle between these two brothers and spends her summer figuring out what her heart wants.

All this takes place while Susannah hides one big secret from her family that only Conrad knows making him spiral off the edge.

This 16+ rated show was released on June 17, 2022, and directed by Marty Scott, Deborah Swisher, Jenny Zhang, and Nicole Colombie.

The main cast of this show contains Gavin Casalengo (Jeremiah Fisher), Christopher Briney (Conrad Fisher), Belly (Lola Tung), Rachel Blanchard (Susannah Fisher), and Jackie Chung (Laurel).

This show was beautifully written as it minutely differs from the book and looks into the deeper aspects of a teenage love story while living in the same house for a whole summer.

A negative aspect of this show is the certain cringe shots of the show and substance abuse.

Watching this show is very much worth the time and money, after seeing this show six times it gets better and better each time I watch it.
