School Dress Code

School+Dress+Code
Students at St James Highschool have a very strict dress code which most students do NOT agree with. Ask pretty much anyone here at St James and I’m sure they will have something to say about the dress code.

In my opinion, the dress code is unfair. It’s that simple us girls and boys should be able to dress however we feel comfortable of course there are some things that should not be allowed. Like chains, collars, and spikey jewelry, because that could cause harm to someone. There have been incidents where students have gotten into fights and used their spikey jewelry and chains as weapons.

Girls should be able to wear tank tops that arent two fingers it’s not OUR fault some boys can’t control themselves it shouldn’t affect how we dress and act the same things as boys. Yes there are some boundaries that shouldn’t be crossed like shorts obviously there shouldn’t be too much being revealed but we should be able to wear what we want without being sexualized and brought down.

Guys should be able to wear what they want without being talked about or being made fun of. But also guys get away with dress code a lot too.

Their shorts are sometimes not a dollar bills length away from the knee. But when a girl walks in with her shoulder being revealed it’s an automatic dress code or the girl gets pulled aside in front of everyone. Same with ripped jeans it’s not the end of the world if there’s a rip in our jeans.

“The dress code is stupid I should be able to wear what I want and feel comfortable and be able to wear jeans with holes,” says  Taylor brook.

” I understand that there should be some guidelines,” says Mr. Moore.

But girls and guys should be able to wear what they want schools should not control how we dress and act.
