Judge denies bond for man accused of killing Dillon County elementary school principal

A bond hearing took place Monday for the man accused of killing elementary school principal, Wendy Cook.

Kyle Church was charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the death of the 54-year-old principal of Stewart Heights Elementary School, on the night of August 20th.

Dillion County Sheriff, Douglas Pernell said deputies were called that night to the 1800 block of Southwind Road in Dillion, where they found a woman dead inside a car.

Dillion County Coroner, Donnie Grimsley, later identified the woman as Wendy Cook and that she had died of a gunshot wound.

Arrest warrants show that Cook was shot in the chest at Church’s home. During the bond hearing Assistant Solicitor Shipp Daniel showed surveillance camera footage that captured the entire crime, it also revealed that Church and Cook had been in a relationship.

The judge denied the bond for Church. He is being held at the Dillon County Detention Center.
