Biden Administration Will Stop Sending At-Home COVID-19 Tests Starting Friday

Starting this Friday, September 2nd, the Biden Administration will no longer be sending free at-home COVID tests. This is a result of “insufficient congressional funding,” said a Biden administration official on Sunday, August 28th.

An anonymous source stated that, currently, at-home tests are being sent to families in large amounts, & the administration wants to keep a good portion of the tests ready in case of a fall surge.

“If Congress provides funding, we will expeditiously resume distribution of free tests through,” said the source. “Until then, we believe reserving the remaining tests for distribution later this year is the best course.”

Around this same time last year, a recent surge in COVID cases began with the exposure to the Delta variant.

The source said, in an interview with NBC News, “The [Biden] administration has been clear about our urgent Covid-19 response funding needs.” This news comes after Jill Biden recovers from COVID for a second time.

The only thing that could reverse these rules about the at-home tests, however, is a new round of funding from congress.
