Fire in Loris area which expand nearly 400 acres

In Loris, SC fire contained to grow to nearly 400 acres. A fire that was initially in the beginning 10 acres grew to nearly 40 times the size.

Tony Casey says, “Crews were called to the area of Watts road at around 3pm for a 10 acre fire”.

County crews at the South Carolina Forestry Commission were closely monitoring the scene as of Sunday Morning.

As of Sunday morning the burn ban remains in effect. At around 7am in the morning of Sunday, HCFR provided an update that it grew by a lot which made it nearly 400 acres but it was contained.

Officials say that the reason it might’ve grown by a lot was because of the windy conditions. But for now no injuries or structure damage were reported.

Brianna says, “This is very terrifying and it is so crazy how fire can expand by a lot in only a day”.
