The Number of Ukrainian refugees Entering Poland is nearing 4 Million

Over the course of the war, Ukrainian refugees have been pouring into other neighboring countries, mainly Poland, in order to not get caught up in the war between Ukraine and Russia.

The number of Ukrainian refugees leaving for Poland has been nearing the four million mark. These people have been leaving Ukraine due to the ongoing war, but some people have not left Ukraine yet.

A Ukrainian refugee says, “homeland is homeland.”

At the beginning of the war,  large numbers of Ukrainian refugees were pouring over into Poland. However, the influx of Ukrainian refugees has slowed down in recent weeks.

Anna Michalska, a spokeswoman for Polish guards, says, “People who were determined to leave when war breaks out fled in the first days.”

Organizations dealing with the refugee crisis have said that this war has caused the worst refugee crisis that Europe has seen. This is because of the amount of Ukrainians that have fled to other European countries.

Alex Mundt, UNHCR’s senior emergency coordinator in Poland, says, “We hope that hopefully the trend of new arrivals will decrease. But I don’t think there’s any guarantee of that until there’s a political solution.”
