Man Caught With Reptiles in His Clothes

Reptiles are cool, but not cool enough to hide them in your pants.

On February 25th, a Man was caught with bags of reptiles in his clothes while trying to smuggle them across the Mexican Border.

At the San Ysidro border that crosses into Mexico, a man was smuggling reptiles over the border. His truck was pulled over for inspection and what they found was surprising. 52 reptiles hidden in a man’s clothing.

U.S. Border Patrol said in a statement, ”which were concealed in the man’s jacket, pants pockets, and groin area.”

They were talking about the small bags the reptiles were hidden in. There were 9 snakes and 43 horned lizards found on the person. Some of the species were even endangered.

Sidney Aki, a Border Protection director says, “In this occasion, the smuggler attempted to deceive CBP officers in order to bring these animals into the US, without taking care for the health and safety of the animals.”

The animals were seized, and will be released. Why would someone try to smuggle live creatures using such an extreme, and uncomfortable, method? It was most likely to sell them for lots of cash.

“Smugglers will try every possible way to try and get their product, or in this case live reptiles, across the border,” says Sidney Aki.
