The three most important topics President Joe Biden discussed in last night’s State of the Union address were Ukraine, Covid-19 Pandemic, and Voting/Equality/Supreme Court.

  • Biden said, “Six days ago, Russia’s Vladimir Putin sought to shake the foundations of the free world thinking he could make it bend to his menacing ways. But he badly miscalculated. He thought he could roll into Ukraine and the world would roll over. Instead, he met a wall of strength he never imagined. He met the Ukrainian people.”

This is important because Ukraine has been going through a lot of Turmoil and tragedy. I agree because Ukraine needs all the support they can get and they are way stronger people than the Russians expected.

  • Biden said, “As our own vaccine supply grows to meet our needs — and we are meeting them — we will become an arsenal of vaccines for other countries, just as America was the arsenal of democracy in World War II.”

This is important because Covid-19 has been a big problem for a good 2-3 years now and it’s just now starting to slow down and get better. I agree and Disagree because I do think Covid-19 case are getting better and slowing down, but I also think that just because we have more vaccines doesn’t mean we are going to become immune to other diseases, and we can’t technically say we have better vaccines than any other country.

  • Biden said, “For too long, our government, our courts, haven’t looked like America. I believe it is time that we have a court that reflects the full talents and greatness of our nation.”

This is important to talk about because this makes history, having the first black women to be in the supreme court is a big deal and I don’t think this was really talked about enough. I agree because there is a lot of diversity in America, but not enough diversity in the places that need it. Not saying not everyone has the qualifications, but it would make more sense to give more diverse people just the same amount of chance.
