Russia Invades Ukraine

Russia Invades Ukraine

Late last night, on February 23, Russia invaded Ukraine doing so as dropping several bombs around the county including the capital.

Russia has been making threats to invade Ukraine for the past few months. One of the main reasons that Russia made attacks on Ukraine is that Russia doesn’t want Ukraine to become apart of NATO and want Ukraine for themselves.

“Russian occupation forces are trying to seize the Chernobyl. Our defenders are sacrificing their lives so that the tragedy of 1986 will not be repeated,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted.

Most Ukrainian citizens are fleeing to Poland for safety and help. We don’t know how long the war will last and the main concern is the citizens’ safety.

“This is honestly so sad and my heart goes out to all Ukrainians, I couldn’t ever imagine something like this happening to me and I hope all of the families stay together and stay safe,” says Jaden McBride.

President Biden says that he does not plan on getting the United states involved unless Russia attacks a country that is a part of NATO.

President Biden says, “Our forces are not going to Europe to fight in Ukraine, but to defend our NATO allies and reassure those allies in the East.”
