Victoria’s Secret Hires First Model with Down Syndrome 

Twenty four year old Sofia Jirau from Puerto Rico is the first woman with down syndrome to model for Victoria Secrets. 

Sofia Jirau is making history as the first woman with down syndrome to model for Victoria Secrets. She is modeling for the Love Cloud Collection. 

“There are no limits,” Sofia wrote, adding her favorite phrase and life motto, “Alavett!”, meaning “I love it!”

The Love Cloud Collection is made up of eighteen women. Each of the women defy the traditional image of Victoria Secrets Ads.

“For me, the most important thing about fulfilling my dreams is to show people around the world that there are no limits and to inspire them to pursue their own dreams,” Sofia  says on her website. “This is why I always say ‘Inside and out there are no limits’ to motivate people to break through their self-imposed limitations.”

With this new collection VS is changing the way people look at women. The world is finally changing the way people look at other who are not picture perfect hair, makeup or body. 

“From the cast of incredible women that bring the collection to life, to the incredible inclusive spirit on set, this campaign is an important part of the new Victoria’s Secret standard we are creating,” Martinez said.
